Mike Beesley Managing Director – The HR World
Mike Beesley, Managing Director of The HR World introduces an initiative to drive HR towards its full potential.
The HR function is facing a crisis. Without significant change it risks becoming a dormant function, existing only to carry out ‘people’ tasks or simply tidy up after other departments. With only 3% of FTSE 100 companies including a HR Director or CPO at board level, HR needs to take steps to demonstrate the power it has to lead organisations.
The opportunity for HR has never been greater – or more necessary. From hybrid working to AI, from finding talent to retention, HR currently deals with a wide range of complex challenges and needs to be at the top of its game to ensure businesses move forward.
To help the function realise its potential, and to ensure it has the skills necessary for a challenging future of work, The HR World is supporting the Great HR Experiment. This project – https://hrexperiment.com/ – involves a benchmarking study of leading HR directors to create a clear view of the skills and behaviours HR leaders need for the workplace of the future.
We want you to get involved. We know our audience is made up of leading HR talent, committed to pushing forward the HR function and achieving more for the businesses they serve. Cognisess and Human have created a series of online tests for HR leaders to complete. The results of these will provide an insight into what it takes to be an effective forward thinking HR professional. Analysis will also be carried out by the Alan Turing Institute’s Data Study Group bringing the work and skills of some of the country’s top AI and data science talent to consider the HR function.
Having produced a current picture of HR practitioners, The Great HR Experiment will continue to collect data, charting changes and trends in what it takes to be an effective and leading HR professional.
The HR World will be closely involved throughout this project, bringing the results and reflecting on the findings from this unique programme of study. We are dedicated to furthering the work of the HR function and to the wider recognition of the value its brings to businesses. We also want to make sure that you – the leading lights in the HR function – are front and centre in this important work.
