What will it take for the HR function to gain a better reputation among businesses and employees? This was under discussion at this webinar. Sponsored by Cezanne HR and drawing from the findings of the report: It’s All HR’s Fault – how HR can improve its image and boost its standing in the C-Suite.
The webinar brought together Anders Lindstrom, Senior Director of Marketing – Cezanne HR, Jordan Barry-Bayliss, CEO – The Human Revolution, Amanda Rajkumar, Board Level HR Practitioner and Steve Carpenter, Managing Director – Three59.
Offering views from different perspectives the panel explored everything from the use of technology in HR through to how HR can earn a place at the top table and communicate effectively with the CEO and other company leaders. Over-riding themes which came from the discussion included the need for HR to be clear and transparent in its dealings, to work alongside top table – thereby achieving buy-in and influence, and delivering a balance between people and business objectives. Indeed, the balance between efficiency and business objectives and being people focussed was identified as a particular challenge, with Barry-Bayliss arguing for more ‘humanity’ to be brought into organisations through the work of HR.
It was also felt that HR can do more with the resources, data and technology at its disposal. Becoming a recognised and valued part of the business could also be achieved through making data-led decisions and ensuring everyone in the organisation understands and supports company culture from the top down.
